Fire department and law enforcement personnel along with many local residents have been getting their haircuts with Richie’s Barbershop at a new pop up location at Jamie Slone Wines in downtown Santa Barbara. The wine tasting room is located in the historic El Paseo in the Presidio.
Richie’s Barbershop, located on Coast Village Road has been a part of the evacuation and out of business the past week. Jamie Slone Wines in Santa Barbara, like many other small businesses, has lost almost all of their visitor traffic due to the Highway 101 closure, expected to reopen on Monday, Jan. 22, according to Caltrans officials.
Local Santa Barbara resident Brandon Arlington of CDB group had been wanting to help both of these struggling business dues to 101 closures and evacuations and put these two entrepreneurs together on Late Saturday. By Sunday morning at 9:30 am the first customer was in the chair. By the end of the day many more enjoyed some wine, bought bottles to share with family and friends.
“Thanks to people like Brandon Arlington, small local businesses like ours are coming together to help each other. We converted our private reserve room in our tasting room to accommodate Richie and staff,’ Slone said. “Sunday morning Richie showed up with three old fashioned barber chairs and all the extras to cut hair. The customers are really enjoying being a part of us helping each other,”.
